This capacitive sensor is widely used in automatic control industry for non-contact proximity detection. The main difference from any other inductive proximity sensor, is that this sensor can detect both metallic and non-metallic materials with a measurement distance of up to 10mm, making it perfect for non-metallic objects detection applications. In fact some users have used it to upgrade their low cost 3D printers and add automatic bed leveling calibration even with tempered glass bed.
